Best order-to-cash automation tools in 2026

Eight order-to-cash automation tools compared for 2026: what each automates, where it stops, how it is priced, and how to pick by the part of the cycle that hurts.

A person in a VR headset lit by red and blue neon, a reminder that order-to-cash automation is judged by what it does inside real systems, not by how it looks.

The best order-to-cash automation tools in 2026 split by which part of the cycle they actually run. Esker is the incumbent suite that covers both orders and receivables. HighRadius, Billtrust, Versapay and Sidetrade are receivables platforms, strongest after the invoice exists. Conexiom is the order intake specialist, strongest before it. Lleverage sells one supervised agent per back office process. Elentaria is for the manufacturer or distributor whose cost sits in the coordination between those steps, from the customer request to the reorder.

Most buyers do not need all eight. They need the one that starts where their own pain starts.

What is order-to-cash automation?

Order-to-cash is everything between a customer asking for something and the money landing in your account. In a manufacturer or distributor that usually means the request or RFQ, the quote, the order, the credit check, the delivery, the invoice, the payment and the follow-up that leads to the next order.

Order-to-cash automation is software that takes over the routine steps in that chain. In practice the market sells it in two halves:

  • The front half: reading orders and enquiries from email, PDF, EDI and portals, checking them against prices and terms, and creating the sales order in the ERP.
  • The back half: invoice delivery, credit, collections, cash application and deductions.

The halves are sold by different vendors to different buyers. Customer service owns the first, finance owns the second. That is why so much of the cost ends up in the handoffs between them.

The cost is not small. In the Atradius 2026 survey of US B2B payment practices, late payments affect an average of 22 percent of B2B receivables, and companies report losing 1 to 2 percent of B2B invoices as bad debt. A good share of late payment starts upstream, with a wrong price, a short delivery or an invoice that does not match the order.

How we evaluated these tools

Five criteria, applied the same way to every entry.

  1. Which part of order-to-cash it runs. Front half, back half, or both.
  2. Where the automation stops. Every tool stops somewhere. What matters is whether it stops before or after the work your team finds expensive.
  3. Fit for a mid-market manufacturer or distributor. A few hundred orders a week is a different business from a Fortune 500 shared service centre.
  4. Pricing transparency. Where a vendor publishes pricing, this page quotes it. Where it does not, this page says so and quotes no number.
  5. How the human stays in the loop. Approvals, exceptions and an audit trail. In order-to-cash that is the design decision that matters most.

Nothing here is scored. The order reflects how often each tool is the right answer for a mid-market manufacturer or distributor, not which one is best in general.

1. Elentaria

What it does. Elentaria is one system for commercial operations. It runs the customer request, pricing and quoting, sales order processing, delivery coordination, invoicing and reorders, following the company's own rules, terminology and approvals. It works with the ERP, email and documents a company already uses, including SAP, Dynamics 365, Business Central, NetSuite, Epicor, Infor, Acumatica and Sage. A piece of work moves through several systems and approval points until it is finished, rather than stopping at the edge of one module.

Who it is for. Manufacturers and distributors whose expensive work is the coordination between stages. The order arrives correctly, and then someone still has to handle the pricing exception, the delivery date that moved, the invoice that no longer matches and the reorder nobody chased. That gap is what it is built for.

Where it stops. At judgment, on purpose. Elentaria prepares quotes, orders and invoices for a person to approve. Anything above a threshold or outside standard terms goes to the responsible person instead of being actioned. It does no physical execution. Automation runs the routine and humans own the exceptions.

Pricing. Not published. Scoped per company on a live demo, matched to the workflows and systems involved.

Watch out for. Elentaria is young and has no public review record. The receivables platforms below have hundreds of reviews and years of references. Elentaria also needs your operating rules written down before it can follow them, and that exercise often shows the rules are less settled than people thought. Useful to learn, but it is real work. If your problem is purely collections at enterprise scale, a receivables specialist is the safer pick.

2. Esker

What it does. Esker sells an order-to-cash suite of eight modules: order management, credit management, customer inquiry management, claims management, invoice delivery, cash application, deductions management and collections management. Its order management captures orders from email, EDI, portals, e-commerce, punchout and mobile, extracts and validates the data against the ERP, routes exceptions to a person and posts the order. It reads over 130 document languages and has a certified SAP connector.

Who it is for. Mid-market and enterprise companies that want one vendor for both halves, especially international operations running SAP.

Pricing model. Not published.

Where it stops. Each module stops at its own boundary: the validated order, the delivered invoice, the applied payment. Esker states its own results as 92 percent less manual entry on orders and up to a 25 percent reduction in DSO. Those are vendor figures for specific steps, not a whole-process benchmark.

Independent view. 4.4 out of 5 from 60 reviews on G2. Reviewers praise the order capture and automation, and some mention integration with existing systems as the hard part.

3. HighRadius

What it does. HighRadius automates the receivables half: collections, cash application, deductions, credit and e-invoicing. Cash application, matching incoming payments to open invoices at volume, is what it is best known for. It also sells accounts payable, close and treasury products on the same platform.

Who it is for. Large enterprises and mid-sized finance teams. It lists over 1,500 customers, with logos including Adobe, Unilever, Nike, Nestle and Starbucks.

Pricing model. No rates published. It markets outcome-based pricing, where fees depend on KPI improvement, with no implementation fee before go-live. Treat that as a commercial structure, not a number for a business case.

Where it stops. Before the order. HighRadius does not do order intake, so orders retyped from PDFs stay retyped.

Independent view. About 4.3 out of 5 from around 230 reviews on G2. Cash application gets the most praise. Search speed and remittance formats are the recurring complaints.

4. Billtrust

What it does. Billtrust covers invoicing, payments, credit, collections and cash application for B2B suppliers. Its distinctive piece is invoice delivery into more than 260 AP portals from one interface, which matters when every large customer wants invoices submitted their way.

Who it is for. B2B suppliers in distribution, manufacturing, equipment, medical and transportation. Customer logos include Saint Gobain, Staples, United Rentals, Iron Mountain, Coca-Cola and FedEx.

Pricing model. Not published.

Where it stops. At the payment received and matched. No order intake.

Independent view. 4.4 out of 5 from about 500 reviews on G2, the deepest review base on this page. If invoices disappear into customer portals and nobody knows whether they arrived, this is the most directly aimed tool here.

5. Versapay

What it does. Versapay automates invoice-to-cash: digital invoicing with a customer portal where buyers can pay and raise questions, AI cash application, collections management, reporting and B2B payments by ACH and card. Its pitch is collaborative AR, meaning the customer and the supplier work on the same invoice in one place.

Who it is for. Mid-market manufacturers, wholesale distributors and professional services firms, particularly on Oracle NetSuite, Sage Intacct or Microsoft Dynamics 365. It states over 10,000 customers.

Pricing model. Not published.

Where it stops. At the payment received and reconciled. Like the other receivables platforms, it starts once the invoice exists.

Independent view. 4.1 out of 5 on G2. Reviewers value the visibility into invoices and payments and the quick implementation. It is the most mid-market-shaped of the receivables tools here.

6. Sidetrade

What it does. Sidetrade calls itself an order-to-cash intelligence platform. It combines O2C apps with Aimie Agents, role-specific AI agents for collections, cash application, disputes and credit risk, plus Aimie IQ, a natural language interface, and Agent Builder Studio, a no-code tool for building your own agents. It competes on a proprietary data lake of payment behaviour.

Who it is for. Large organizations, with a strong European base.

Pricing model. Not published.

Where it stops. At collections and disputes. Like HighRadius, its order-to-cash starts after the invoice.

Independent view. 4.6 out of 5 from 85 reviews on Gartner Peer Insights, in the invoice-to-cash applications market. The agent model is further along than most. The trade-off is a platform you will configure more of than you use in year one.

7. Conexiom

What it does. Conexiom turns emailed and file-based trade documents into ERP-ready data. It handles RFQs, sales orders, vendor order acknowledgements and invoices, from PDF, Excel, email, CSV and handwritten notes. It names over 40 native ERP integrations, including Epicor Prophet 21, SAP S/4HANA, NetSuite, Dynamics 365, Infor and Sage X3, and quotes a 30-day average implementation.

Who it is for. Manufacturers and distributors with real document volume. Customer logos include Exxon Mobil, Arrow Electronics, Fastenal, Graybar and Parker Hannifin. It states over 1.5 billion line items processed a year.

Pricing model. Not published.

Where it stops. At the clean record in the ERP. Credit, delivery changes, invoicing and collection stay with your team or with another tool.

Independent view. 4.6 out of 5 on G2 from over 60 reviews. Onboarding effort and document variation are what reviewers raise. The side-by-side is in Elentaria vs Conexiom.

8. Lleverage

What it does. Lleverage positions itself as the autonomous back office for companies that make, move and sell physical products. Supervised AI agents read documents, make routine decisions and complete work inside the existing ERP. Its process areas include quote and sell, source and procure, plan and produce, deliver and support, pay and collect, and govern and enable.

Who it is for. European manufacturers and distributors, especially where EU hosting matters.

Pricing model. Its pricing page lists Standard, Complex and Enterprise tiers, charged as one monthly price per agent, with one agent per process. Integration and AI usage within fair use are included. No amounts are shown, so pricing is on request.

Where it stops. At the boundary of each agent. Order intake is one agent and invoice matching is another, so covering order-to-cash end to end means several agents and several sets of rules.

Independent view. Founded in 2024, it has no reviews yet on SourceForge or Slashdot. That is an absence of a signal, not a bad one. More detail is in best Lleverage alternatives.

How to choose an order-to-cash automation tool

Start with where the money actually leaks, because these tools overlap less than the category name suggests.

If the problem is before the invoice, orders retyped from PDFs and enquiries buried in a shared inbox, start with Conexiom. It finishes that job and costs less than a suite.

If the problem is after the invoice, unapplied cash, collections run from a spreadsheet, deductions nobody chases, pick a receivables platform sized to your finance team. HighRadius and Sidetrade for large organizations, Billtrust if portal invoicing is the pain, Versapay for a mid-market team on NetSuite, Sage Intacct or Dynamics.

If you want one vendor for both halves, Esker is the established answer and a reasonable one.

If you want to buy automation one process at a time, Lleverage's per-agent model makes that explicit.

If the problem is the seams, the order that landed correctly and then sat, the price exception nobody owned, the delivery change that never reached the invoice, that is where Elentaria is built to work. None of the specialists claims that ground, because it sits between their modules.

Common mistakes when buying order-to-cash software

Buying receivables software for an order entry problem. Collections tools do not care how the order arrived. If your team retypes orders every morning, a DSO tool will not show up in your numbers.

Comparing a suite to a point tool on price. Esker against Conexiom is not an expensive option against a cheap one. It is eight modules against one. Decide scope first, then compare quotes for that scope.

Treating vendor statistics as benchmarks. Every vendor here publishes improvement figures. They are real for the customers they came from, and they describe the step that vendor owns. Ask which process, which baseline and which period.

Skipping the exception demo. Ask every vendor to show what happens when the order price is wrong, the payment is short or the customer disputes a line. The happy path looks the same everywhere. The exception path is where your team spends its week.

Forgetting who owns the handoff. When customer service owns one tool and finance owns another, nobody owns the gap between them. Name that owner before you sign anything.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between order-to-cash and accounts receivable automation?

Accounts receivable automation covers the back half of order-to-cash: invoicing, collections, cash application and deductions. Order-to-cash also includes the front half, from the customer request and order entry through credit and delivery. Many tools sold as order-to-cash software are accounts receivable tools.

Which order-to-cash tools cover both orders and receivables?

Esker is the clearest example, with order management and collections modules in one suite. Lleverage covers both through separate agents per process. Elentaria runs the chain from request to reorder, with human approval at the exceptions. HighRadius, Billtrust, Versapay and Sidetrade focus on receivables, and Conexiom focuses on order intake.

How much does order-to-cash automation cost?

None of the eight tools on this page publishes prices. HighRadius markets outcome-based fees, Lleverage charges one monthly price per agent, and Elentaria scopes pricing on a live demo. Expect a sales conversation before you get a number from any of them.

What is the best order-to-cash tool for a mid-market distributor?

It depends where the cost sits. For order intake from email and PDF, Conexiom. For receivables on NetSuite, Sage Intacct or Dynamics, Versapay is the most mid-market-shaped option. For the coordination between orders, delivery and invoicing, Elentaria. A distributor with a few hundred orders a week rarely needs an enterprise suite.

Can I combine two order-to-cash tools?

Yes, and it is common to put an order intake tool in front and a receivables platform behind. The rule is that no two tools should claim the same step. If they do, a person ends up deciding which one is right, and the automation has bought you nothing.

If you want to see how the connected version runs in a distribution business, the wholesale and distribution page walks it from customer request to reorder, and how B2B commercial operations run from quote to cash covers the seams in more detail.
